Not everything difficult arrives with a technique attached.
Sometimes there really is no cure yet, no solution we have overlooked, no mindset that makes the circumstances disappear. No book, practice, piece of advice or change of perspective suddenly makes everything manageable.
Sometimes help is limited. Sometimes healing is uncertain. Sometimes we simply do not know whether things will get better.
I think that can be one of the hardest places to be, because so much of what we are offered is built around the idea that there must be something we can do. Another treatment. Another insight. Another lesson. Another way of thinking about it.
And sometimes there is.
But sometimes there simply isn’t. Not yet.
In those places, I’m wary of turning endurance into another spiritual achievement. You do not have to call your suffering sacred. You do not have to believe it was sent to teach you something. You do not have to find the hidden gift, become stronger because of it, or turn survival into a beautiful story.
Sometimes surviving looks nothing like courage from the outside. It can look like getting through one ordinary hour, making something to eat, watching rubbish television because your mind cannot manage anything else, crying, going quiet, asking someone to stay.
Sometimes it is getting through Tuesday and somehow finding yourself in Wednesday.
That still counts.
Sometimes there is nothing to learn from this yet. Sometimes there is only this.
And you are still here.
